    • Engagement: How to gain your puppy’s attention and focus

    • Group classes are especially beneficial for pups as they learn dog social skills very early on.

    • Proper techniques of clicker training (see description below)

    • New skills like sit, down, come and other basic obedience commands

    • Luring, heeling and introduction to loose leash walking

    • Touchpad work to teach your puppy spatial awareness and self control

    • “Place” command. This enables you to keep your own dog nearby and involved in activities without being underfoot, such as when you are eating or answering the door.

    • How to teach your dog recall (to come when called!)

    • Your pup will learn how to interact properly with other dogs

What we liked best about the Chilliwack puppy class: Instructor Deb was very good. She was knowledgeable, experienced and had an excellent demeanour with both people and the dogs. She was able to answer questions to more difficult scenarios specific to our own dogs needs. Having class notes to remember all the details was very helpful. Thank you!

We needed help training our friendly, exuberant but sometimes bad-mannered pup, Roxy, who was about 15 months at the time of our first consultation. We completed 8 private lessons with Jill and Connie last month and couldn’t have been more pleased with the results.

The lessons started with learning how to improve engaging in play with our dog and moved on to door manners, leash walking and later recall training. Jill and Connie were knowledgeable and very encouraging. We started seeing improvements even after the first couple of lessons. We also noticed that Roxy was becoming more affectionate and trying to engage in play with us as the lessons progressed.

Roxy’s manners have improved, and leash walking has become far more enjoyable for all of us. We continue to work with her and see progress, utilizing all the great tools and tips Jill provided us. Thanks Chilliwack Dog Training!

Dog Training Method: Marker Training Sessions

What is marker (or clicker) training?

In a nutshell, it’s an animal training method based on behavioural psychology that relies on marking desirable behaviour and rewarding it. This black and white method of communication is based on positive reinforcement and will revolutionize the way that you train your dog.

This class will teach you about the power of training your dog with food and will focus on building the dog/handler relationship through engagement and motivation. During the class you will learn the basic concepts of luring, leash pressure and shaping of behaviours. We will also cover classical/operant conditioning and discuss how to build motivation in your dog through productive play. Marker training can be used to train any behaviour, from basic obedience and tricks to behavioural modification.

    Testimonials

The daycare and boarding here is incredible! All the Staff are considerate and really thoughtful towards the care for your dog. They ensure each individual dog's needs are met: Whether it’s sticking to a specific feeding schedule or partnering them up with compatible dog playmates. My dog jumps out of the car every time we go! Highly recommend sending your dog here.
Deb and her team are amazing. I was a bit nervous about sending my dog to the board and train program, but once I met with the team I felt really reassured. My dog seemed really comfortable and he learned so much! I'm so grateful for the team's support with my dog's training.
We just picked our dog up today from the board and train program. We could not be happier! Our trainer Deb was amazing with Ozzy, and sent us many detailed updates and videos throughout his month long stay. They truly care about the pups they take on and it shows. We are already so impressed with our dogs improved behaviour and new skills, and can’t wait to continue on with the training. Thank you guys 😊🙏
We have a cattle dog who can be very picky about the people and environments she is comfortable with, and she really likes it here. The team truly goes above and beyond with the care they provide. Special shout out to Katerra who is absolutely wonderful with our quirky dog, and to Trinity P! We are so grateful to have found such a great kennel and will definitely return the next time we need to board our dog.
We sent our dog at 1 year old to board and train at Obedience Unleashed and could not be happier with the care and training he received. Further more the training we, as the owners, received. We have never sent our dogs to any kind of boarding before but the staff are very reassuring and made the whole process very comfortable. Looking forward to using there boarding service in the future. I highly reccomend them and there services!
Our two Cattledogs love this place. So do we.
Nice place with tons of room for the pups to run around, very nice staff, had a good experience with a girl working there named Bella, definitely recommend. Plus it's right beside duke's pub.
I have started taking my 2 year old border collie cross and my 8 year old border collie cross here and have found the staff very helpful and friendly. They take the time to get to know your dog and they really care about them. The facility is clean and they have a great area for walks. This is a muvh quieter place than most places because they do not take as many dogs. Highly recommend this kennel.
