Here at OBU-K9 we are committed to the highest standards of training with our K-9 partners in order to be able to assist the officials and families with the search for their loved ones. Although we are closely partnered with Obedience Unleashed Dog Training Inc., OBU-K9 is an independent NOT for profit group.
Our K9 Team is composed of active/retired professional Fire Fighters, Police and First Responders and is directly associated with a well established Burnaby USAR Team that deployed to assist with various Disasters in and outside of Canada. We understand the steps involved and triggered when a disaster strikes or a Missing Person is reported, and we are prepared to assist.
Our teams are trained in search and recovery of missing live and deceased victims. Our dogs and handlers have experience searching in disaster, urban and wilderness areas with the exposure to drowned, burnt and buried victims. We are committed to assist with searching for the authorities and the families of the missing.
We are members of the National Search Dog Alliance (NSDA) and International Association of Canine Professionals, an organization established to maintain the highest professional and business standards among canine Professionals. We train to NSDA standard and go through a very strict testing requirements in order to obtain Land HRD certification. Some of our teams are fully certified and some are working on their first or ongoing certifications.
