  •  … and much more

During each class we have periods of Q&A, during these periods we try to cover some of the following topics and we encourage owners to bring their own questions:

-Dog reactivity

-Feeding, nutrition

-Grooming, and handling of feet

-Jumping up – how to properly greet people

-Dog and child safety

-Dog socialization

The training method that will be used in this class is called Marker Training.

What is marker (or clicker) training? In a nutshell, it’s an animal training method based on behavioural psychology that relies on marking desirable behaviour and rewarding it. This black and white method of communication is based on positive reinforcement and will revolutionize the way that you train your dog.  This class will teach you about the power of training your dog with food and will focus on building the dog/handler relationship through engagement and motivation. During the class you will learn the basic concepts of luring, leash pressure and shaping of behaviours. We will also cover classical/operant conditioning and discuss how to build motivation in your dog through productive play. Marker training can be used to train any behaviour, from basic obedience and tricks to behavioural modification. There are no prerequisites for this class. It is recommended that you bring treats, a food pouch, leash and a clicker for your dog. The class has a limit of 8 dogs. Please reserve your spot online.

Obedience Unleashed serves the Tri-cities area of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Mission

My dog has become calmer during our walks and is now listening to my directions more often – he pulls less often when we are near other dogs and less likely to pull to go chasing birds. He used to bark at every car and person that passed by or approached our house. He didn’t always stop doing so when told. Now he not only stops barking but will sit when I ask him to, allowing me to open the door for deliveries etc. I am sure the combination of daycare and Obedience Bootcamp Level 1 class is the reason for my now better behaved, calmer dog. Thank you!
