Communication policy during Board & train program

While your dog is with us at the board and train program, we strive to send the client updates via email regularly. Expect the first email within 2-3 days of dropping the dog off. We will also send photos and a training video or videos during their stay and be in touch with the owner about the pick up date and scheduling follow up training. We encourage you to email or call us with any questions or concerns during your dog's boarding stay. Note: we are not able to accommodate visits of the owner with their dog during the board and train program.

Pick-up/Drop-off Agreement

Board and train dogs will be picked up and dropped off by the client, unless other arrangements have been made. All Board & Train programs include 10 hours of handler training after the board and train program is completed with the dog, divided into: (a) One hour private session at our facility upon pick up, (b) 4 one-hour Off Leash Freedom small group classes held at our facility, (c) 5 Obedience & socialization group classes/walks held at popular walking destinations to practice obedience out and about in real life settings. These follow up lessons are provided to help ease the transition of your dog back into your home and to help you maintain the high standard for behaviour that we have at our boarding facility. When bringing your dog for a Board and Train program, please bring your dogs food with written feeding instructions, treats, toys, leash, towel/small blanket and any medication your dog needs including flea/tick and or deworming treatment (only if they need to be given to your dog while your dog is in our care). Please DO NOT bring any large stuffed beds, food/water bowls or crates. Drop off agreement: When dropping off your dog at our facility, please stick to the exact time that was booked. We are a working boarding facility so the staff are busy working dogs in between appointments. Therefore, we pull staff off of training to meet and greet you to make sure the dog is welcomed safe and securely. Upon arrival, your dog must be on a leash/collar setup from which they cannot slip out of when going from your car to our property and during the hand-off to the staff member. Your dog may be nervous, scared or excited and any of these things can lead to your dog escaping the collar and running off or around the property, which is a safety issue for the dog, the staff and other dogs on the property. When you arrive, please give any instructions to the staff member and then hand the dog over to a staff member. Please do your farewells at home, please do NOT hug, kiss, bend down or use a high-pitch voice during the hand off to the staff member. Instead please just hand the leash off to the staff member. Not following these instructions can jeopardize the safety of the staff member. The staff member will bring the dog back to get settled in at the boarding facility. We do not allow non-employees into the actual boarding facility as we have numerous dogs with varying issues, and it will create an unsafe environment for all the dogs as well as the staff and yourself.

Physical Activity Agreement

Your dog will be staying at a working boarding facility and not living in a padded room. Your dog spends a good amount of time in the outside world doing lots of things around lots of natural objects, dirt, grass, cement, trees, fencing, bushes, swimming, interacting with lots of other dogs, and humans. It is likely that your dog is going to get scratched, bumped, or bruised. Your dog may lose a bit of weight, due to the active lifestyle. If we notice this, we will communicate with the owner about increasing food portions. Your dog will most likely get some wear and tear on him/her. Imagine when you went to summer camp for a few weeks, you get a little banged up from all the activities. Things are bound to happen even though we have taken special care in designing our facility and maintaining a high standard of safety and cleanliness. As Owner, you acknowledge and understand that there are certain risks involved in pet training, boarding, and care. You release, indemnify, and agree to hold Obedience Unleashed Dog Training Inc. harmless from any and all manner of damages, claims, loss, liabilities, costs or expenses, causes of actions or suits, whatsoever in law or equity, (including, without limitation, attorney's fees and related costs) arising out of or related to the services provided by Obedience Unleashed Dog Training Inc.
